SQUARE UP ‘Makes my skin crawl!’ fume EastEnders fans as they threaten to boycott soap over ‘revolting’ character

SOAP watchers have lost patience with one villain in Albert Square as he targets his own flesh and blood in a sickening move.

EastEnders fans have recently taken to social media, begging bosses to axe the treacherous character.

Matt Di Angelo reprised the role of rapist Dean Wicks in late 2023, returning to Albert Square just in time for Halloween.

But after horrifying many BBC One viewers and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Dean stooped to a new low by blackmailing her into a false confession.

Dean was able to push Linda to admit he had never raped her as he threatened to send George Knight to prison.

However, soap watchers saw a nicer side of Dean as he reconnected with his long-lost daughter Jade Green (Elizabeth Green).

But just when viewers believed they’d seen the worst of him, Dean proved there was nothing he wasn’t willing to do to get his own way.

In recent scenes of the London-based program, Dean refused to part ways with his daughter Jade as she revealed she may be heading to Pakistan following her lung transplant.

Determined to be a prominent part of her life, Dean has been tampering with her antibiotics, which she’s using during her recovery from her procedure.

The storyline continued last night (Tuesday, March 19), sending fans into a fury as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter.

Many regular viewers of the long-running program have pleaded with soap bosses to get rid of Dean as they are unable to watch how evil he can really be.

Some have branded Dean’s latest ploy “revolting” while others have even threatened to boycott EastEnders.

“I swear they better get rid of Dean soon or I’m switching off I cannot watch him anymore literally makes my skin crawl when he’s on the screen”, one of them fumed.

Another added: “I need Dean to be beat up and put in a coma asap! I can’t take him being on my screen any longer.”

“The Dean storyline of making his own daughter is sick is revolting. I have to skip over bits it’s just too much”, a third viewer concluded.

‘I’m turning off!’ rage EastEnders viewers as they blast soap bosses for ‘trying to redeem disgusting character’

As Dean’s antics continue, multiple soap watchers have shared their hopes that one legend could return to Walford to teach the character a well-deserved lesson.

According to them, Dean’s no-nonsense mother Shirley Carter could be the one to put a stop to his devious acts, as she once did when he was trying to rape Roxy Mitchell.

Shirley, portrayed by Linda Henry, left Albert Square in the wake of her other son Mick’s disappearance at sea and fans have been keen to see her return as her 2022 exit was reportedly far from final.

Another theory has suggested that Linda’s son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) could be the one to get rid of Dean.

But how will it really play out?

Will Dean ever get comeuppance?

Can he ever change his ways?

Can he get any worse?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.

Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) makes a sinister discovery in upcoming EastEnders scenes which leads Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) to turn seriously nasty.

She is left shocked when Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green) returns to Albert Square from hospital sooner than she’d expected, but soon finds herself looking after the ailing teen when Dean agrees to an interview with a reporter from the Walford Gazette.

However, Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) soon interrupts the interview offering to give a character reference on Dean which, given their history, isn’t likely to be a glowing review.

Meanwhile, Jean questions Jade, and after learning that Dean has been administering her medication, decides to take a closer look.

Viewers will know that Jade was prescribed antibiotics for her chest infection, and had planned to move to Pakistan with her mum as soon as she was well enough.

However, Dean didn’t want Jade to leave him, so decided to take matters into his own hands to keep her close.

He began to tamper with her medication, emptying out the pill cases without Jade noticing.

When Jean called a doctor, he persuaded Jade to lie to him in order to stop her from going to hospital, meaning that his tampering has so far gone unnoticed.

However, in upcoming scenes, Jean realises that Jade’s pill cases are empty and reasons that she must do something.

When Dean returns home, he finds Jean attempting to take Jade to back the Slaters’ house, but he soon thinks on his feet and blames her for everything.
