This article contains spoilers from Wednesday’s (March 20) EastEnders, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) has been taking extreme action to keep daughter Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green) close to him in EastEnders, but just when we thought he couldn’t stoop any lower he surpassed all of our expectations.

After learning that Jade planned to move to Pakistan with mum Shabnam once she had recovered from her chest infection, Dean began tampering with her antibiotics, leaving the pill cases empty so that they had no affect.

In more recent scenes, Dean accompanied Jade to her fundraiser in the Queen Vic, much to the horror of Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), and confided in her that he wanted her to stay with him longer.

However, Jade was determined to move to make the move to Pakistan, and made it clear that nothing Dean said could make her stay with him.

Furious at being defied, Dean disconnected the tube from Jade’s oxygen tank, leaving her completely vulnerable.

It didn’t take long for Jade to grow breathless, and Dean was instantly there to support her.

However, after a conversation with Linda, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) decided it would be best if Dean left, and soon he was being wrestled out of the building by Johnny Carter and George Knight (Charlie Suff and Colin Salmon), despite his insistence that he needed to be there to care for his ailing daughter.

As Jade stood up to deliver her speech, Dean was forced to listen from outside, and he grew concerned as it became clear that Jade was struggling to breathe.

Things took a shocking turn when Jade collapsed, sending the crowd into a panic, with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) rushing to find Dean.

As Dean came to Jade’s aid, he placed the blame for her condition on an upset Jean. With no one suspecting Dean of vandalising Jade’s oxygen, will he get away with his crime, and will Jade pull through, or has he killed his own daughter?

EastEnders fans have been left fearing one character could die in Walford after a “disturbing” twist.

Soap fans will recall that Dean Wicks recently reconnected with daughter, Jade, who has undergone a life-saving lung transplant surgery amid her cystic fibrosis battle. Only recently, Jade struggled with guilt as she tried to muster up the courage to tell her father that she was moving to Pakistan with her mother Shabnam.

Jade ended up finding solace in Jean Slater, and the two had a heart-to-heart about the youngster’s predicament. Together, Jade and Jean headed to Beales Eels, where Jade broke the news to her deflated dad that she was moving to Pakistan with Shabnam.

Jade explained: “Mum’s flown out to Pakistan because Nani Zainab’s not well… she’s moving out there and she wants me to go, too.” As expected, Dean reacted badly to the news and he met with his solicitor to see if he could stop her from leaving. However, his solicitor delivered news Dean didn’t want to hear as she pointed out that if Jade’s health is stable there’s “no grounds” to keep her in Walford.

Later, Jade went to the doctor after she had been coughing recently, where she was prescribed antibiotics for a chest infection. In a sick twist, Dean sent Jade to bed to rest as he told her he would put her antibiotics in her pillbox with her other medicines. However, when alone, Dean tampered with the antibiotics in a sinister bid to make Jade stay.

Things have only got worse this week as Albert Square got together to support Jade’s fundraiser and on Wednesday night, despite being banned from the event due to it taking place at the Queen Vic, Dean managed to manipulate the situation so he could go.

At the event, Dean and Jade got into a disagreement about her plans to go to Pakistan as Dean tried to emotionally blackmail her into staying. However, Jade snapped: “I am moving to Pakistan! I am going to live with mum and there is nothing you can do to stop me!”

Furious at the thought of his daughter leaving, sinister Dean made yet another evil decision as he disconnected Jade’s oxygen tank, leaving the youngster completely in danger. It wasn’t long until Jade started struggling with her breathing and at the same time, everyone in the Queen Vic thought it would be best that Dean left due to Linda Carter being distressed by his presence.

As Dean waited outside, Jade went to go on stage to deliver a speech at her fundraiser but she struggled to breathe and collapsed in a shock moment. Dean then ran into the pub, where he shouted: “What have you done?” while an ambulance was called.

Viewers were left horrified at the “disturbing” twist and how far Dean would go to keep his daughter nearby as they feared Jade could die. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Dean needs to get off my screen this is actually a disturbing storyline #eastenders”, a different account put: “I don’t understand is dean actually trying to kill his daughter #EastEnders” while another added: “Does Dean want his daughter dead or what???????? #Eastenders.”

Elsewhere, one person said: “No but Dean is pure evil because you’re willing to risk your daughter’s life and potentially let her DIE just so she stays with you? Messing up her antibiotics and unplugging her oxygen tank? Disgusting #EastEnders” while another added: “I’m wondering if jade dies. If dean is emptying the tablets she isn’t receiving the medicine she needs that could kill her. #EastEnders.”
