George Knight (Colin Salmon) was rocked by the revelation that his adopted dad Eddie Knight (Christopher Fairbank) had murdered his biological father in recent EastEnders scenes, and has been struggling to come to terms with it ever since.

At the beginning of January, George was surprised by a visit from his parents, who admitted that they had lied about his heritage growing up.

When they revealed that they had been paid to take care of him as a child, George and ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) did some research and discovered that he had been adopted after a process called child farming, which was most common among African parents at that time.

However, this left George confused, as he had been brought up to believe that his birth parents were Jamaican.

Eventually, mum Gloria Knight (Elizabeth Counsell) admitted that she had lied, and that his birth parents were actually from Ghana.

It later transpired that Eddie and Gloria had finally come clean because they had been instructed to by Eddie’s lawyer.

George was horrified to learn that Eddie was facing trial for a racially motivated murder, and wanted his son to stand up in court as his character witness.

After a tense confrontation, George discovered that Eddie was guilty of the murder, and the man he killed had been George’s biological father.

To make matters worse, Gloria confessed that she had told Eddie to do whatever it took to stop George’s dad taking him away.

In upcoming scenes, George’s mood is low ahead of Eddie’s trial, and Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) decides to try and cheer him up.

When Gina reveals that she has booked them a trip to Jamaica on her credit card, George refuses the idea, having not told them the truth about their heritage.

Gina is shocked by his outburst, and later pleads with the family to reconsider, revealing that she has spent £5000 on flights.Meanwhile, Cindy urges George to tell his daughters the truth about their ancestry.

Cindy was shocked by the events, as George apologised for not seeing Eddie for the man he really was, as she had.

When Cindy asked if Gloria knew the truth about the murder all along, George admitted that she must have done in her heart of hearts, but expressed how he was worried she wouldn’t survive if Eddie went to prison.

Cindy was quick to admit that, if it was her, she would go straight to the police and tell them everything, but recognised George’s bond with Gloria and urged him to make his own decision.

Following their conversation, George sat his family down and revealed that he wasn’t going to stand as Eddie’s character witness, as he had wanted, but that he wasn’t going to make a police statement either.

Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) was horrified, pointing out that he was the only witness to the crime.

When George pointed out that sending Eddie to prison would kill Gloria, Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) revealed that that was ‘tough’, as Eddie had killed ‘a complete stranger’.

Having already decided to take a DNA test to try and find his biological mother and give his daughters the most accurate answers he could about heir heritage, George kept quiet about Henry’s true identity.

Instead, George insisted that, without any real evidence, it was his word against Eddie’s.

This wasn’t enough to put anna off the idea, as she insisted that he had to try, no matter how hard it would be.

As Gina agreed, George revealed that they had no idea what he had been through over the last few days, which led Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) to urge him to think about it some more, before making any rash decisions while his head wasn’t in the right place.

George, however, remained certain that he wanted to put that past behind him and begged them not to fight his decision.Has he made the right choice, or are Gina and Anna right to worry that he may regret it?
