The actress, 45, is said to have been dating the musician, 53 – who is a member of alternative 90s band ‘A’ – for a few months now, with the romance being kept relatively under wraps.

However, the couple have shared some sweet posts about each other on social media, with a source claiming they are ‘smitten’ with each other.

While Emma is known to many as Honey Mitchell on the BBC soap, Jason’s band ‘A’ enjoyed slight success in the ‘90s and early 2000s with their song Starbucks being in the UK top 20 in 2002, with their song Nothing also hitting the top 10 that year.

A pal told the Sun on Sunday of their new romance: ‘The couple are smitten with each other and are very sweet to be around.’

Earlier this month, the pair enjoyed a staycation in Cuckfield, West Sussex, with Emma sharing a snap of the couple donning woolly hats during their cosy getaway.

She captioned her series of pictures: ‘Recharged the batteries…Weekend full of beauty, peace, nature, love, food & drink.’

While commenting on the post, Jason penned: ‘The best time with you Emma. Wish we still had some soup left.’

Jason has also shared a few pictures of the actress on his page, with one captioned: ‘The Best of Bournemouth’, indicating another getaway for the pair.

Captioning the post of her backstage at the theatre, he wrote: ‘Super proud of my hard working and talented girlfriend @theemmabarton as she takes to the theatre for her Xmas run.. no idea where she is finding the energy and I want to wish her all the luck and best wishes and love in the world.

‘For me, these last few years have been a little tougher at this time of year but im feeling happier than ever thanks to this gorgeous lady ! Bring it on. xxx #grateful.’
