EastEnders: Max Lands Himself a New Acting Gig!

The EastEnders star will tour the UK later this year, portraying the co-lead role of Jack Firebrace. Max Bowden is totally excited about it, as it’s a project close to his heart! Max wrote, “Birdsong highlights the tragedy of war, yet the beauty of humanity simultaneously through strong relationships under extreme circumstances.”

EastEnders fame Bowden can’t wait to bring Jack to life! Birdsong tells the story of Stephen Wraysford and his love, Isabelle Azaire, who are torn apart by war. Stephen heads off to lead troops in the Battle of the Somme as war breaks out. And get this: He’s not just fighting for his country but for their love, too! Furthermore, The Girl on The Train writer Rachel Wagstaff has adapted the classic play with Alastair Whatley as the director.

Whatley is pumped to have the EastEnders legend back on board after their previous project. The director said, “I cannot wait to get back in the rehearsal room with Max to explore one of Sebastian’s most unforgettable characters.” The duo worked together on the 2016 tour of Birdsong, during which Max took on the role of Tipper, a young soldier.

EastEnders have teased a potential exit storyline for Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) as he looks to flee the country with daughter Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green).

The relationship between Dean and Jade has been fraught ever since she returned to Walford at the end of last year.

Having been conceived as a result of a one night stand, her mum Shabnam (Rakhee Thakrar) put her up for adoption though Dean’s mum Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) later gained custody of his daughter.

After he was arrested for the attempted rape of Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons), Shirley handed her back over to her mum.

Arriving back in Albert Square ahead of life-saving lung transplant surgery, cystic fibrosis sufferer Jade was keen to make amends with her estranged dad but became concerned when he became too over protective.

Warning her from spending time with her new mates, his actions became a source of embarrassment for the teen.

When Shabnam reached out wanting her to move to Pakistan, Dean couldn’t bare to lose his daughter again and began a sinister plot to make her stay.

Fiddling with her medication, he didn’t realise the consequences of his actions until she was hospitalised.

Becoming suspicious, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) egged him on to come clean – but he passed the blame onto Jade, saying she was responsible for messing up her pills.

In upcoming scenes, Jean’s boyfriend Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) bribes Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) into inviting Jade over to No. 31 so that he can keep an eye on her.

When Dean reacts badly to her being at the Slater house, Harvey becomes more suspicious and is furious to see that he’s posted a slanderous message about him across social media.
