1. Devastating split

Whitney Dean actress Shona McGarty is due to bow out of the BBC One soap after fifteen years portraying the fan favourite.Viewers have been keen for her to get a happy storyline ahead of her exit as, during her long stint in Albert Square, Whitney has been struck by pain and tragedy on multiple occasions.Unfortunately, this may be highly unlikely as soap watchers will find out what Whitney has been up to in Milton Keynes with her partner Zack and her adoptive mother, Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer). The couple left Walford in recent weeks to help Bianca cope with her breakup from Terry Spraggan and they’ve been happy to learn they are expecting another baby. However, while in Milton Keynes, a pregnant Whitney bumps into a wayward teen named Britney she can’t resist helping. This escalates into a horrific car accident as Whitney is hit by a mystery driver while trying to help Britney out of a difficult spot.Whitney is rushed to hospital alongside Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy), Zack and Bianca who all worry about the baby’s safety as she waits for an ultrasound. The trio are relieved when the doctors reveal that the baby is fine but there’s still trouble in the air.Later on, Zack and Whitney learn that Britney’s mother Keeley has been arrested for drug dealing, and the teen has gone missing.Ignoring Bianca’s advice, Whitney heads out in search of Britney, but Zack calls to let her know he has found the missing girl.Zack and Whitney then come to blows when she offers to look after Britney whilst the social worker sorts out official plans.Whitney later makes a huge decision Zack isn’t ready to agree to and, in a huff, he prepares to head home to Walford without his partner.Once Zack has left, Whitney heads to Keeley’s to share some home truths about her parenting. However, Keeley reasons that if Whitney really cared about Britney, she would take her off of her hands – what will she do?Back on the Square, a downbeat Zack bumps into Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) on Whitney’s stall.Sonia is unimpressed to learn that Zack has left Whitney in Milton Keynes while Lauren is stunned to learn about the accident and Whitney’s pregnancy.Lauren, who previously tried to fix her relationship with the father of her son, Peter Beale, then has a heart-to-heart conversation with Zack.  A bond clearly grows between them but, in other scenes, Lauren calls Whitney with concerns for Zack after he drowns his sorrows in The Vic.Unfortunately, Whitney isn’t willing to compromise as she’s adamant on staying in Milton Keynes.Lauren then stops Zack from drinking himself into oblivion and offers to get him some food to sober up.But Zack misreads the situation when Lauren offers advice on his relationship and leans in to kiss her.Could the infidelity, if Lauren responds, lead to Zack and Whitney calling their relationship off?

2. New bond in the Square

Whatever the case may be, Zack could have a struggling teen to support in Walford as Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) continues to spiral.Following his and Yolande Trueman’s attack in Albert Square, the lad has been determined to get in shape. But in his eyes, the life of an athlete involves a huge sacrifice and Denzel is set for his own steroid hell.It all begins with Denzel over the moon as a popular fitness influencer messages him about collaboration on a workout video.Determined to impress, he enlists his pal Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) to help.Sadly, this backfires as, once it is filmed, Nugget posts Denzel’s video without his prior knowledge.A social media frenzy ensues as Denzel is targeted by hateful comments about his physique.Later on, at No.20, Denzel reads one of them and spots a mention about anabolic steroids.Denzel dives into research, hoping to find out more… which later prompts him to deceive someone close to him.In later scenes, Denzel lies and asks Yolande (Angela Wynter) for money for a school trip.Unbeknownst to her, Denzel is using the money to buy steroids. According to one viewer who turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, Denzel will be able to count on Davinder aka “Nugget” throughout his ordeal.”Davinder will be the clean up man when Denzel messes up”, the soap watcher penned. But what if Zack was to step in to help Denzel? The chef was revealed to have used steroids in the past, sharing needles with one of his old pals named Brett.Zack received a shock to the system when Brett rocked up Albert Square to let him know he had been tested HIV positive.Brett urged Zack to get checked out as he knew there was a strong chance of him having the disease. The hunk’s life was turned upside down after it was confirmed he’d been diagnosed HIV positive.Denzel has been hanging around The Boxing Den with former boxer George Knight in recent weeks.Could Zack pick up on the warning signs and be another mentor for Denzel just as Whitney leaves the Square for good?EastEnders airs brutal alleyway attack on two Walford residents but fans are left with a burning question

3. Unexpected connection

George Knight (Colin Salmon) was reunited with his adoptive parents, Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) and Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) Knight earlier in the year.Although he may have been keen to know what the pair have been up to, George’s daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) was not as happy to see her grandparents once again as she maintains a distant and tense relationship with Eddie. The character’s constant micro-aggressions directed as George and his daughter, particularly the colour of her skin hairstyle, didn’t sit well with Gina and she tried to make her father see senseSecrets began to unfold when George first found out his parents weren’t Jamaican, as he’d been led to believe for several years, but were actually West African migrants who had given him up.Gina didn’t need to do too much work to make George realise that Eddie was dangerous as it was later revealed he had killed an African man.To make matters worse, Eddie’s victim was said to be George’s biological father who had been hoping to take the then-teenager back from the Knights.Coming up, George is struggling to keep all these secrets to himself, particularly as Eddie is due to stand trial for the murder of his father, Henry Kofi Asare.Aware that he isn’t feeling like himself, Gina tries to cheer George up ahead of Eddie’s trial and books a family holiday to Jamaica on her credit card.Sadly, George dismisses the idea as he has been concealing the truth about their heritage, leaving Gina stunned at this outburst. In later scenes, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) convinces George to tell their daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina the truth about his ancestry. But Gina soon pleads for the family to visit Jamaica explaining she’s spent five grand on flights. While George’s answer to her pleas remains to be seen, some viewers are still trying to figure out what else the former boxer’s past could be hiding.Although his biological father is known to have passed, brutally killed by Eddie Knight, the same can’t be said for his mother. One theory emerged on social media and according to it, viewers may have already encountered George Knight’s mother. Is it true that Yolande turns out to be George’s mum?”, one soap watcher questioned before adding: “if it is, it’s ridiculous! Introduce someone new!”Yolande made a permanent return to the Square in August, 2023, after being mentioned in Walford on multiple occasions.George, on the other hand, arrived in Walford with Anna and Gina in early June last year. While she was thought to have come back to rekindle her relationship with Patrick Trueman, could Yolande have actually returned in the hopes of getting to know George?
